PREFIXES
The prefix centi means “hundred”. You have seen this prefix in the word centimeter.
The prefix macro means "large". You can probably explain the difference between a macrobiologist and a microbiologist.
The prefix mis means “bad”. No doubt you have seen this prefix in words like mistake and misunderstand.
The prefix polis means “city”. You have already seen it in the word cosmopolitan.
The prefix vid (and its variant vis) means “see”. Of course, you know the word television.
ROOTS
The root derm means “skin”. So, a medical doctor who specializes in diseases of the skin is a dermatologist.
The root dorm means “sleep”. Many universities have dormitories for its students.
The root endo means "within". Did you know that it was a Japanese company that invented the endoscope?
The root tract means “draw” or “pull”. You probably know that modern day farmers often use a tractor on the farm.
